Promotion Strategy
Private coaching for senior leaders navigating promotion to the next level in big tech. This work draws on nearly a decade serving on promotion committees at Google and sitting in executive promotion discussions.
Who this is for
Leaders who think they may be ready for the next level, but do not know if their case holds up.
This is often a fit if:
you know the work is strong, but do not know how you are being perceived behind the scenes
your promotion has been denied before
you have received vague, confusing, or no useful feedback
you have a case but are struggling to communicate it upwards and out
What I see
A lot of strong people assume promotion should follow naturally from good work. At senior levels, that is not how it works.
Usually, the person can see parts of the case — scope, impact, delivery, maybe even leadership. But senior promotions are not just about whether the work is strong. They also depend on sponsorship, perception, confidence in the case, and whether the organization actually wants to make it happen.
I also often see:
a behind-the-scenes narrative about the person that is shaping how they are viewed
people feeling uncomfortable talking directly with managers about promotion and avoiding it
people starting too late
people pushing for a promotion when there is no path to make it happen right now
When budgets are tight, your case needs to be high confidence.
My Approach
Most promotion advice focuses on performance. Senior promotions are more complicated than that.
I help you assess how strong the case really is, identify where it may be vulnerable, and build an actual strategy for what to do next.
That may mean strengthening the case, addressing gaps, lining up support, or getting clearer on timing.
I will tell you what others may be avoiding saying.
Outcomes
You leave with:
a clearer read on how strong the case actually is
a better understanding of what may be helping or hurting you
a more concrete plan for what to do next
